Chad is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It’s a large country, with a population of 12 million. Its neighbors are Libya, Niger, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Another tourist attraction in Chad is the Zakouma National Park. Zakouma National Park was created in 1962 and it is situated near the Sudanese border in eastern Chad. The park covers an area of more than 5,000 square kilometers. The name “zakouma” comes from the Bantu language and means “gathering place for elephants”. The park’s landscape features savanna grassland. Zakouma National Park is known for its wildlife. More than 400 species of mammals have been identified in the park. Among them are elephant, hippopotamus, lion, giraffe, zebra and a variety of monkeys. Bird watching is also a popular activity at the Zakouma National Park. Many rare bird species have been spotted there, such as the Pel’s fishing owl, the Verreaux’s eagle-owl, the African fish eagle, the Black-casqued hornbill and many more.

There are various ways to get there. The main airport is N'Djamena International Airport. It is located on the capital city of the country. There are also other airports like Sarh, Abéché and Massalit that are smaller but serve as regional air travel hubs.
